Ecotoxicology is the science that predicting the effects of potentially toxic agents on natural ecosystems and on non- target species and it is also a multidisciplinary field, which integrates both toxicology and ecology. Ecotoxicology involves both the aquatic and terrestrial organisms.
Aquatic Toxicology considers the features of the aquatic environment that determine the availability of xenobiotics to aquatic life and the fate of foreign chemicals within the organism.
Terrestrial toxicology is the study of how environmental pollutants affect land-dependent organisms and their environment.
Department of Ecotoxicology at BRF has separate areas for Alga sp., Lemna sp., Fish, Honeybee, Earthworm, Daphnia and Birds experiments. The above test system is supported by culture, inoculation and quarantine rooms.
All the studies will be performed as per OECD GLP Principles, which includes stability, solubility, verification of dose formulation and homogeneity of the test substance. The range of studies categorized below will be carried out as per national / international test guidelines.
